NYT Spelling Bee Daily Answers – 15 JANUARY 2026

Today’s NYT Spelling Bee puzzle was a great example of how a grid can look modest at first but still hide a very satisfying pangram. With I as the center letter, every valid word had to be built around that vowel, and the surrounding consonants suggested everyday English rather than rare or technical terms. Still, the pangram didn’t reveal itself immediately—it required patience and a willingness to test longer combinations.

Today’s Letter Set

  • Center letter: I

  • Outer letters: H, W, D, G, E, T

As always, Spelling Bee rules apply:

  • Words must be at least four letters long

  • Every word must include the center letter I

  • Only the given letters may be used

  • Letters may be repeated

How I Solved Today’s Puzzle

I began by scanning for common four-letter words to anchor the grid. Words like HIDE, WIDE, TIDE, DIET, and EDIT appeared quickly and confirmed that the puzzle leaned toward simple, familiar vocabulary.

Next, I focused on strong English letter clusters involving IGH and ITE, since I, G, H, and T often work together. That led naturally to EIGHT and WEIGHT, both of which felt like important stepping stones rather than final answers.

At this stage, I started experimenting with longer constructions, allowing letter repetition and rearranging all seven letters together. That’s when the breakthrough came. Adding D to WEIGHT produced a perfectly valid, natural word that used every letter in the grid.

Solving Tips That Worked Today

  • Build from strong base words: WEIGHT was the key anchor.

  • Allow full rearrangements: Pangrams often appear only when testing longer forms.

  • Watch letter clusters: IGH and ITE combinations were essential today.

  • Don’t assume early: The pangram appeared later than expected.

Takeaway from Today’s Puzzle

The January 15, 2026 Spelling Bee puzzle was a reminder that pangrams don’t always jump out immediately. The word list itself was clean, logical, and enjoyable to complete.
