Solving today’s New York Times Spelling Bee was a delightful challenge! The center letter was P, meaning every word had to include this letter. Surrounding it were the letters A, H, L, T, B, and E — a moderately flexible mix that offered a few long words but also many tricky short ones.
Step-by-Step: How I Solved the Pangram
My approach began with scanning for possible suffixes and prefixes. With P in the center, I focused on high-frequency consonant clusters like -ple, pre-, and ph-.
Next, I mentally listed common words that could possibly combine P with the other available letters. Noticing B, L, and A, I quickly found:
Alphabet — the perfect pangram! It uses all the letters and fits beautifully.
With that, I was confident the puzzle would yield a solid word count.
Strategies That Helped Me
-
Start with 4-letter words – These add up fast.
-
Spot the prefixes/suffixes – Like -ple, pre-, -able.
-
Look for plurals and different verb forms – “bap” becomes “baps”, “tap” becomes “taps”.
-
Use word families – Once I found path, I immediately searched for paths, pathal, pathel, etc.
Pangram of the Day
-
ALPHABET
A great word choice, and the only pangram in today’s grid!

Insights from the Hive
What made this puzzle especially fun was the balance of easy 4-letter words and tricky longer ones. The inclusion of “alphabet” as the pangram felt appropriate — almost poetic — in a word game.
Puzzles like today’s remind me why I play Spelling Bee daily. They stretch the mind, build vocabulary, and deliver that mini dopamine hit when the pangram finally clicks!
If you’re struggling to find more words, take a step back and try reordering the letters aloud — or even write them down in different groupings. Sometimes your brain needs that extra nudge.
