Spelling Bee Pangram Solution – July 3, 2025

There’s something deeply satisfying about solving the New York Times Spelling Bee puzzle, especially on days when the letters seem straightforward at first but hide a cleverly tucked-away pangram. Today’s puzzle was exactly that—a beautiful blend of challenge and flow.

The center letter was L, and surrounding it were the letters: T, U, M, E, I, V. At first glance, I thought this would be one of those easier grids. Plenty of vowels (E, I, U) combined with versatile consonants like M and T promised flexibility. But as I started digging deeper, it became clear that finding the pangram and exhausting all valid words would take a bit more effort than anticipated.

The Pangram: MULTILEVEL

After working through a few dozen combinations, the word MULTILEVEL popped into my head—and it felt like a eureka moment! It uses all seven letters, includes the required center letter L, and is a real English word that rolls right off the tongue.

Multilevel means “having several levels or layers,” and metaphorically, today’s puzzle had just that—layers that revealed themselves only after some thoughtful wordplay.

How I Solved It

Here’s a quick look into my process for solving today’s puzzle:

  1. Start With 4-Letter Words: I always begin by listing the easiest words to gain momentum. Words like mule, mile, tile, and veil showed up quickly.

  2. Use the Center Letter First: Every word must contain L, so I focused on word fragments or syllables containing L, like -ile, -ule, mel-, vel-.

  3. Group Similar Sounds: I built word families. For example, from tile I found title and tilt. From mule, I went to multi and eventually reached multilevel.

  4. Test the Unusual Combinations: Words like elute and evil showed up as surprises, reminding me to think outside the box.

Once I found multilevel, I knew I had cracked the pangram, and the rest of the words came together smoothly.
