Today’s Spelling Bee puzzle was a real treat — filled with curveballs, clever wordplay, and a very satisfying pangram. With C as the center letter and surrounding letters T, U, L, N, A, I, the challenge was to think creatively while staying grounded in letter constraints.
Let’s break down how I approached this puzzle and eventually uncovered the pangram, along with all the valid words I found.
First Thoughts
At first glance, I noticed that today’s hive lacked E and R, which often limits verb endings and common suffixes. But with a decent mix of consonants and vowels, including U, A, I, and the central C, I knew there had to be some solid words waiting to be uncovered.
The puzzle immediately screamed “-tic,” “-cal,” and “-cial” endings, which are great word-starters in puzzles like this. I also tried several compound roots using -cat, -cut, -clan, -clut, and so on.
The Pangram
After warming up with a few shorter words, I kept trying to mix all the available letters and landed on the winning word:
LUNATIC
“Lunatic” is today’s pangram! A brilliant 7-letter word that combines all the available letters with the center letter C, and is perfectly valid. It’s one of those words that feels like a reward when it finally clicks.
How I Found It
-
I Started with Basic 4-Letter Words: This helped me get into the rhythm. Words like “clan,” “cult,” and “lilt” came up quickly.
-
Looked for Common Prefixes & Suffixes: I played with “in-,” “un-,” and “-tic” to generate longer possibilities.
-
Searched for 7-8 Letter Combos: I experimented with longer arrangements, writing out letters like a mini anagram game. That’s when LUNATIC finally lit up the board.
It helped to visualize the word “luna” (moon) and think metaphorically, which led to “lunatic” — someone once thought to be influenced by the moon!

Wrap-Up
Today’s puzzle wasn’t the easiest, but that’s what made “lunatic” such a gratifying find. Spelling Bee is as much about pattern recognition as it is about vocabulary depth. When you start identifying familiar roots, prefixes, and suffixes, it becomes a creative word-building exercise.
If you’re stuck, don’t forget to:
-
Build from short to long words.
-
Think of both nouns and adjectives.
-
Play around with possible anagrams.
-
Remember common letter groupings.
