Today’s Spelling Bee puzzle was one of the most satisfying ones in recent memory. With D as the center letter and the surrounding letters I, H, A, G, E, B, the hive offered a rich mix of vowels and consonants—perfect for building long, expressive words. But today’s special highlight wasn’t just the standard pangram. Hidden inside the grid was also a perfect pangram, a rare and delightful find for Spelling Bee solvers.
In this post, I’ll walk you through exactly how I solved today’s puzzle, the thought process that led me to both pangrams, and the complete list of words you can form from today’s hive.
Step 1: Understanding the Letter Grid
Today’s letters were:
-
Center letter (must use): D
-
Outer letters: B, I, H, A, G, E
This is a strong combination. You get three useful vowels (A, E, I) and four high-value consonants (B, D, G, H), which together create classic English structures like:
-
BI-, BE-, BAD-, BID-
-
HID, HAG, HEAD, AID
-
-AGED, -HEAD, -BAG, -GAB
The moment I saw HEAD forming naturally from the available letters, I knew I had to explore extensions built around that root.
Step 2: Spotting the Word Families
I started by building around the strongest stems:
-
HEAD
-
BEAD
-
DIE
-
AIDE
-
GAB / GADI
-
HID / HIDED
That’s when the word BIGHEAD first surfaced in my mind. It used every letter except one—but then I realized something even more exciting:
BIGHEAD uses all seven letters exactly once.
This is extremely rare in Spelling Bee territory.
BIGHEAD is what we call a perfect pangram—a word that uses every letter in the hive exactly one time. Not only valid, but beautifully symmetrical.
But that wasn’t the main pangram yet.
To confirm the actual pangram, I searched for a longer word that used more letters and centered around the same pattern.
That’s when I found the true pangram:
BIGHEADED
It uses all seven hive letters, includes the center letter D, and is fully valid.
Finding both the pangram and the perfect pangram was the moment the grid fully opened up.

Step 3: Today’s Pangrams
Pangram:
BIGHEADED
Perfect Pangram:
BIGHEAD
This is a rare day where both appear naturally from the same root.
Below is the full list of valid words using today’s letters.

What Made Today’s Puzzle Unique
Today’s Spelling Bee puzzle was unusually generous. The mix of vowels and consonants encouraged strong structural words, and the presence of the HEAD cluster practically led solvers toward uncovering BIGHEAD and BIGHEADED.
Discovering both a pangram and a perfect pangram in a single day is a rare treat. It’s puzzles like this that remind us why Spelling Bee is such a joyful daily ritual—full of challenges, surprises, and satisfying “Aha!” moments.
See you in tomorrow’s hive!
