Some Spelling Bee answers come with a built-in punchline. After a solid stretch of active digging through today's letter set, the word waiting at the finish line was INACTIVITY — which felt like a joke the puzzle was playing on anyone who worked hard to find it.

How I solved it

I always anchor to the center letter first, then build outward from there. With I locked in, I started with the short, dependable words:
all landed quickly and got the board moving.
From there, I pushed into five-letter territory, and this is where the puzzle started showing its personality. , , , and all clicked into place in fairly quick succession, and I also picked up — a less common word meaning prophetic or oracular, the kind of entry that rewards a wider vocabulary. Seeing that many five-letter words fall so easily told me the letter set had real depth, even though it looked compact at first glance.
Six letters brought and , two words that share almost nothing in meaning but pull from the exact same letter pool. That's often a good sign in this puzzle — when unrelated words start stacking up at the same length, it usually means a longer word is hiding nearby that ties several of those letters together.
That instinct paid off. I tested next, and it landed cleanly at eight letters, using six of today's seven letters. Right behind it came , another eight-letter word built from the same core set. Both felt like strong finds on their own, but neither one used the letter N in a way that completed the hive.
That gap pointed me straight to the answer. I combined the "in-" prefix with "activity," and INACTIVITY clicked into place — ten letters, every single one of today's seven represented, including three I's and two T's. The hive lit up gold, and the irony wasn't lost on me: it took a genuinely active solve to land on a word about doing nothing at all.

There's something fitting about a puzzle that makes you work steadily through more than a dozen valid words before rewarding you with a term for standing still. INACTIVITY wasn't hiding behind a rare vocabulary word or an obscure spelling — it was sitting in plain sight the entire time, built from a prefix and a root word most solvers already had on the board in pieces.
